Artists in Residence
Jun 21 - Aug 15, 2010
Historic Edgewood Cottage
The Blowing Rock Historical Society is celebrating the artistic legacy of Elliott Daingerfield that is the premise of Edgewood Cottage, and the "Painting Lady" classes that were so popular at the turn of the 20th century here in Blowing Rock. The Society will host twelve local artists, all related to the Historical Society, who will spend eight full weeks (Monday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.) practicing their skills in Elliott's former studio.
Beginning June 21, 2010 each artist (or group) will be in the cottage painting, showing photographs, making paper, or sharing their artistic skills in a variety of ways. The eight weeks of visiting with the artists and seeing their works is entirely free, and gives our local artists an opportunity to become better known in the community.
The Historical Society is proud to present these artists in the cottage, and we encourage you to come by, talk with them, spend the morning or afternoon visiting with them, and see how the arts of the past are feeding the importance of the arts in the future. As we await the completion of BRAHM (Blowing Rock Art and History Museum) in 2011, it is our pleasure to host the artists showing their creations and wares on the South End of the Historic Main Street district.
The artists who will be part of this exhibition are:
June 21-27: Nancy Brittelle
June 28-July 4 :Gisele Weisman
July 5-11: Brenda Mauney Council
July 12-18: Norma Suddreth

July 26-August 1: Kelly Logan Graham
