Leadership Challenge Ends

The 2008 Class of the Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge held its graduation celebration at the Inn at Crestwood on Wednesday night, April 30th. The eleven graduates received framed certificates along with other special gifts from the management team consisting of Charles Hardin, Executive Director of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, Brian Crutchfield, Blue Ridge Electric, and Bill Barr of Handel Barr Learning, Inc. The attendees were also treated to a motivation speech by Dale Collie of Courage Builders, a Blowing Rock based author and professional speaker.
The Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge provided a comprehensive overview of the community and introduced participants to leaders in the fields of government, education, health care and business. Charles Hardin, Executive Director of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, said, “Participants got a realistic understanding of how our community works. They learned from the movers and shakers – the people who have a vision for the future.”
“This program benefits the community as well, because the Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge identifies potential leaders and gives them the encouragement needed to spur them on to local action and involvement,” Hardin said. “These graduates are already talking about a group project and helping to recruit next year’s class.”
Chamber Litter Sweep 2008
Volunteers and Staff of the Chamber of Commerce picked up litter along the stretch of Hwy. 221 that the Chamber maintains as part of the Adopt-a-Highway program on April 24 . Volunteers collected about six bags of trash.
Thanks can be extended to Blowing Rockers as there was a smaller amount of trash than usual this year. Keep up the good work.
