Ski for the Greenway

Ski for the Greenway

On Easter Weekend, Appalachian Ski Mountain invites you to Ski for the Greenway! The skiing and snowboarding resort will be open an extra weekend for Easter, and will be donating all ski ticket revenues on Easter Saturday to the Middle Fork Greenway. This means a longer season, more skiing and snowboarding fun, and contribution to a worthy cause! This has become a huge collaborative effort across the High Country, and dozens of participating businesses are looking forward to contributing!  Easter is on April 5, 2015.

What is the Middle Fork Greenway?
The Middle Fork Greenway is a developing pedestrian and cycling path along the Middle Fork River, connecting Blowing Rock and Boone. The project is broken into sections, and some are already complete. A full 1-mile portion can be enjoyed from Tweetsie Railroad to Sterling Creek Park. Beautiful views along the river are a defining feature of this portion of the Greenway. When complete, the Greenway will stretch 6.5 miles and will offer opportunities for biking, running, walking, fishing, picnicking, and more. Mini-parks, bicycle rentals, and sheltered picnic areas are all part of this completed vision.
The Middle Fork Greenway will connect with the Boone Greenway, creating almost 10 miles of continuous trail. It will also connect with the Mountains to Sea Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
See more about the vision of the Middle Fork Greenway here.
