BLAZING SADDLES
Blazing Saddles provides therapeutic equestrian
programming for persons with mental, physical,
emotional and/or behavioral disabilities.
Programming is designed to enhance the
participants' ability to live as independantly as
possible through the development of a structured
goal directed relationship with a horse. It is the
mission of Blazing Saddles to "allow hearts to ride
on horseback."

HISTORICAL SOCIETY
BLOWING ROCK HISTORICAL SOCIETY
A membership organization with the mission of
protecting and preserving the historic resources
important to the heritage of Blowing Rock.
Chartered in 1985, the society is a non-profit [501
c)(3)] agency that meets five or six times a year,
and hosts various functions/events throughout the
year. Advocacy for preservation awareness in the
community comes from operation of the Blowing
Rock Museum (next to the park on Main Street),
from educational events, and the quarterly
Newsletter.

BLOWING ROCK ART
AND HISTORY MUSEUM
BLOWING ROCK ART AND HISTORY MUSEUM
Designated in 2001 as a 501(c)3 organization,
BRAHM has a growing membership base and
widespread support for its mission: to promote the
visual arts, history and heritage of the mountains
through educational programs, exhibitions and
significant permanent collections. The Board of
Trustees and members of the community are
currently engaged in the planning of a Museum
building, for which construction will begin in spring,
2009. Summer programs and special events,
quarterly newsletters and educational trips provide
benefits to all who participate.

ROTARY CLUB OF BLOWING ROCK
Established in 1946, the Rotary Club of Blowing
Rock provides an opportunity for friendship,
fellowship, and service to the community, the local
area, and the world. The object of Rotary
International is to develop friendship as an
opportunity to serve, to maintain the highest ethical
standards in business and professional endeavors,
to apply the goal of “Service above Self”, and to
advance international understanding, good will,
and peace through a world fellowship of business
and professional Rotarians. The Rotary Club of
Blowing Rock meets every Monday at 12:00 noon
at Chetola.

BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY FOUNDATION
BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY FOUNDATION
The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is the primary
and professional fund raising organization for the
Blue Ridge Parkway. It's authority is vested in a
cooperative agreement with the National Park
Service and the Department of Interior. The role of
the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is to identify
and cultivate the constituency of the Blue Ridge
Parkway for philanthropic support. The
Foundation does not provide funding for park
operations as this is the responsibility of the US
Congress. The Foundation only provides funding
for those projects which enhance the quality of the
visitor's experience and have a lasting value. For

Founded in 1978, OASIS, Inc. (Opposing Abuse
with Services, Information, and Shelter) is
dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual
assault in Watauga County, North Carolina.
OASIS provides comprehensive emergency
services and support, education and skill
development, and works to create a community
that no longer tolerates sexual violence.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
WATAUGA COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat is a Christian housing ministry. We build
simple, decent homes for families who earn
between 30-60% of Watauga County median
income. Donations of land, materials and volunteer
labor keep the homes affordable and families
contribute sweat equity. Houses are sold with no
profit to families with zero interest mortgages.

WATAUGA HUMANE SOCIETY
WATAUGA HUMANE SOCIETY
The purpose of the Watauga Humane Society is
the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of
suffering among animals, and the extension of
humane education. We provide low cost
spay/neuter clinics, adoption assistance and
animal welfare education programs. The four acre
dog park located at 182 Don Hayes Road is open
sunrise to sunset. Dog Park Day Passes are $3
00 and annual memberships are avaliable.
