Blazing Saddles provides therapeutic equestrian
programming for persons with mental, physical, emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. Programming is designed to enhance the participants' ability to live as independantly as possible through the development of a structured goal directed relationship with a horse. It is the mission of Blazing Saddles to "allow hearts to ride on horseback." | ||||

HISTORICAL SOCIETY
A membership organization with the mission of
protecting and preserving the historic resources important to the heritage of Blowing Rock. Chartered in 1985, the society is a non-profit [501 c)(3)] agency that meets five or six times a year, and hosts various functions/events throughout the year. Advocacy for preservation awareness in the community comes from operation of the Blowing Rock Museum (next to the park on Main Street), from educational events, and the quarterly Newsletter. | ||||

Designated in 2001 as a 501(c)3 organization,
BRAHM has a growing membership base and widespread support for its mission: to promote the visual arts, history and heritage of the mountains through educational programs, exhibitions and significant permanent collections. The Board of Trustees and members of the community are currently engaged in the planning of a Museum building, for which construction will begin in spring, 2009. Summer programs and special events, quarterly newsletters and educational trips provide benefits to all who participate. | ||||

Habitat is a Christian housing ministry. We build
simple, decent homes for families who earn between 30-60% of Watauga County median income. Donations of land, materials and volunteer labor keep the homes affordable and families contribute sweat equity. Houses are sold with no profit to families with zero interest mortgages. | ||||

WATAUGA HUMANE SOCIETY
The purpose of the Watauga Humane Society is
the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education. We provide low cost spay/neuter clinics, adoption assistance and animal welfare education programs. The four acre dog park located at 182 Don Hayes Road is open sunrise to sunset. Dog Park Day Passes are $3 00 and annual memberships are avaliable. | ||||
