Shriner Parade in Blowing ROckThe Oasis Shriners will be returning to Blowing Rock for their Spring Ceremonial and Grand Parade. This year’s theme will be a“Salute to Our Veterans.” The Ceremonial will be held on June 4, 2016 starting at 2:00pm in downtown Blowing Rock’s Memorial Park on Main Street. The parade starts at 3pm.

Oasis Shriner’s  chief executive officer, Potentate Johnny King has declared this year’s Parade a “Civic Parade” with participation of Lady Shriners, The Watauga High School Band, and Appalachian State University. 

The “Salute” will feature Oasis Shriners’ famous mobile parade units, the popular clowns, color guards, floats, Shrine and the Watauga High School  marching bands, veterans’ recognition, Snow Masonic Lodge of Boone marching in regalia, Appalachian State University,  leadership acknowledgement, entertainment for children, and music. Three giant “Fezzy”  Shrine bears will be given away by way of a children’s drawing held on the day of the event. Free tickets for the drawings will be handed out along the Parade route to all children watching the parade by the Oasis Clowns as they walk the parade route thru downtown Blowing Rock. The drawing for the giant Shrine bears will be held in Memorial Park on Main Street just after the parade ends where Shrine parade units will be on display for viewing by the public.SHriner Parade in Blowing ROck

The Oasis Shrine has invited dignitaries from the political and civic sector to attend the June 4 observance.

Oasis Shriners is the largest Shrine organization in the world with headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.,  Oasis represents the 50 western counties of North Carolina, with approximately 5,600 members.
